STAR WARS 3D

I am looking forward to the day when 3D technology no longer requires dark glasses. In the meantime, we have to put up with the incrementalism that is technology. Things happen one step at a time, and right now we are at the step where the dark glasses make the whole screen dark.

Nothing comes out at you in this movie, and had I known that, I would not have gone to see it, since, as you know, Phantom Menace is the stalest and least-thrilling of all six movies.

There is depth to the movie. The three dimensions are clear if you are looking for that. But what I and my children wanted was for explosions to erupt out of the screen at us. That did not happen.

I suppose this level of three-dimensionality is meant to be more subtle and artistic, but it’s really not any fun.

  1. Since Star Wars rocks – and all the novels, comics, games, and clone wars animation – I don.t have much interest in the 3D version. I did enjoy 3D Tron Legacy.
